2006/2007 Activities


The youth from Youth Creating Change of Ghana prepare gifts of notebooks and school supplies for the primary school students who have achieved perfect attendance

While the 2005 events were impressive and the 2006 events spectacular, the 2007 events will be absolutely amazing!

The site survey is complete - High school students from Hartford, West Hartford, Somers and Newington participating in the ACE Mentor Program are designing the new elementary school under the direction of Tecton Architects - Plans are being developed for the actual construction.

January 31, 2007 - 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Presentation of the design of a 3-room school house for the Dalive Village Location: University of Hartford Wilde Auditorium Enjoy video coverage of the Dalive Village, African drumming, wine & cheese and presentation of a scholarship for a deserving ACE student. This event is FREE and open to the public

February 17, 2007 - 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm: A benefit for raising the funds to fully fund the school construction Location: ArtSpace Gallery 550 Asylum Avenue Hartford Suggested donation: $10.00 - (no one turned away for lack of funds)

March 1 - March 25, 2007 - The back packin' granny will return to Ghana for the ground breaking ceremony. Anyone interested in joining her for this exciting adventure, please call ASAP: 860-324-0461


In early 2006, donations helped to send some of the village children to Junior Secondary School (grade 7), and to create 10 biosand water filter systems. These children thank you for the opportunity to continue their schooling. Each water filter provides clean water for 150 people.

Donations also accepted for monthly shipments: Children's books, school supplies, hygiene kits, summer clothing, wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, computers, beanie babies
